My name is Caity! I’m 28 years old, live in Edmonton, Alberta. Attended university in the Bachelor of Science program, constantly changing the path it would lead me, but never truly following my heart and stomach until now. I love cooking, baking, eating, sipping wine, coffee, smoothies, tea, and pretty much anything other than plain Jane H2O. My love for all of this came at an early age with my fondest memories of spending time with my Nanny in the kitchen (my G-ma who didn’t like the title Grandma because it made her sound old). Pretty much every day I would walk to her home after school. I couldn’t wait to walk through the door to be hugged by her, and the smell of what she was cooking or baking that day. Freshly baked cranberry banana muffins, creamy split pea soup, peanut butter chocolate cake, or cream peas on toast if she knew I wasn’t feeling well, was just some of her signature everyday dishes. I knew then that I loved the power of food, and everything it stood for.
Fast forward many years to what brought me here today to create this food blog, and drop my Bachelor of Science journey. I was assigned readings from the book Food for my English class. A book my professor admitted my class was Ginny pigs for, as it was the first time she would be using it to try to make readings more exciting. Well I found myself crying after every story, which I know sounds cray-cray, but every story I felt a knot in my stomach, and a tug at my heart that this food world I belonged in.
So world this is me going for it! I’m a foodblogger whose dream has always been to open up my very own cute little bakery/coffee shop, and to provide my one day customers with the joy, love, and comfort, my Nanny brought to me through the power of food. I dedicate this leap of faith to my Nanny, and my Mom. Without you two believing in me this dream would still be just that. I know I’m still a WAAAAYS a way from opening up my little cozy shop, but I’m a step closer each day because of you, and because of my beautiful followers who push, and encourage me every single day (yup that’s right I’m talking to YOU!)
Thank you for joining me on this journey, as I follow my heart and stomach. I hope you all do the same!
